WASHINGTON--Fifty-five scientists were elected to the Institute of Medicine (IOM) yesterday, raising total membership in the prestigious body to 545. New members are elected by current active members and chosen for their major contributions to health and medicine or related fields. IOM also welcomed five new senior members and five foreign associate members.
