Brace yourself. Superstorm Sandy, seen here from a satellite, has left a wide swathe of damage along the eastern seaboard of the United States.

The great storm is over, but its impact on research facilities along the Eastern Seaboard of the United States is still not clear. Some laboratories report they weathered the rain, wind, and waves just fine; others say they are still assessing the damage.
