The killing ground

Nearly 20 years have passed since archaeologists discovered the oldest known complete hunting weapons at Schöningen, Germany. These wooden spears rocked the archaeological world because they were so sophisticated and so ancient. A new team is now working at Schöningen, trying to figure out who made the spears and why they left such valuable implements behind along with the skeletons of dozens of horses—many more than they could have eaten at any one sitting.
