Firing of Los Alamos researcher draws criticism

The Los Alamos National Laboratory has fired a political scientist after controversy arose over a paper he wrote that questions the dogma of nuclear deterrence. Congressional staff had raised concerns that the article, by nuclear security expert James Doyle, contained classified information, and lab officials subsequently decided that it did. Many arms control specialists are challenging that finding, however, and sharply criticizing the lab's actions.
