WASHINGTON, D.C.--The universe contains too little mass for gravity to stop its expansion, astronomers announced at a press conference held here yesterday at the American Astronomical Society meeting. The finding, based on measurements of exploding stars in the distant universe, was featured in ScienceNOW last October . Since then, reported a team led by Saul Perlmutter of the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in California, an analysis of 33 more supernovas has strengthened the group's earlier conclusion that the universe will expand forever.
