The U.S. National Institutes of Health has just released its widely anticipated draft guidelines for federally funded research on stem cells. The draft rules would allow research only on human embryonic stem cells derived from surplus embryos that fertility clinics planned to discard. Work on cell lines made from embryos created for research purposes would not be eligible for funding.
More details to come.
