Okie Lawmakers Investigate Dawkins

Some members of the Oklahoma legislature are not happy that the University of Oklahoma hosted a talk by outspoken evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins last week for a lecture on evolution. Oklahoma State Representative Rebecca Hamilton apparently contacted the university on the day of the lecture to demand information about private and public resources spent in organizing the event.

Another lawmaker had proposed a resolution in the Statehouse to attempt to oppose Dawkins's visit. He claimed that Dawkins would present a "biased philosophy on the theory of evolution to the exclusion of all other divergent considerations rather than teaching a scientific concept."
