South Korea May Restart Human Embryonic Stem Cell Research

South Korean media (story, story, story) are reporting that the country's bioethics committee has given the green light for a research group at Cha General Hospital in Seoul to conduct human embryonic stem cell research. If the group gets final approval from the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Family Affairs, it will be the first such research conducted in South Korea since 2006, when Seoul National University determined that Woo Suk Hwang had falsified data in several papers claiming major advances.
