Fotis Kafatos, the molecular biologist who co-founded the European Research Council (ERC), is stepping down. After 3 years as the ERC's first President and chair of its Scientific Council, "I would like now to devote more time to my research laboratory at Imperial College," Kafatos said in a statement released today. Kafatos will remain a member of the council, which will elect a new president from its midst, an ERC press release says.
