Jenny is an intern at Science who writes stories about all types of science, but her favourite (yes with a “u”) stories are those involving genes, evolution, dinosaurs, and those that help her understand her daily life. After earning an M.S. in biology from theUniversity of Sheffield, she went on to get her Ph.D. from the University of Edinburgh in evolutionary genetics, a field she loves and vows to return to one day. After this she interned at the BBC, was a contributor to CBC’s technology show Spark, and got a Canadian Institutes of Health Research journalism award to make a radio documentary on gender identity and body modification. She has written for the New Scientist, the European Molecular Biology Laboratory, BBC’s Wildlife magazine, and made radio programs for the BBC, where she is soon heading to take up a fellowship. She was born in London, but raised between Bristol and Montreal, and is Canadian at heart, except when it comes to tea drinking and whisky.
