Losing an hour of sleep may have bigger implications than just grogginess. A study to be published in Open Heart reveals a startling 25% jump in heart attacks the Monday after we spring forward. Scientists believe that the increase is brought on by a combination of factors, including the stress of starting a new work week and the abrupt change in the sleep-wake cycle. The research will be presented at the American College of Cardiology's Annual Scientific Session & Expo that takes place through Monday.
