Talk about blinding speed. The tiger beetle runs so fast, it temporarily loses its vision. According to a story in National Geographic, the insect is capable of covering 120 of its body lengths in a second, while Usain Bolt—the fastest person in the world—covers a mere five body lengths per second. At such high speeds, the bugs’ eyes are unable to take in enough light to form an image so everything becomes hazy.
