Game Improves Players’ Vision

Baseball players at the University of California, Riverside, had a great season last year with fewer strikeouts and more runs than expected. Researchers say that’s because some of them gained the ability to read text at three times the distance of a normal observer after regularly playing a training game that exercised their vision. A study published this week in Current Biology describes how the computer program trains the brain to see better by challenging participants to spot hard-to-see targets.
